I can't believe we're through two full months of school already! Time is flying! I can see so much learning and growth already in my students - it's truly amazing. We've done a lot of fun and exciting activities since the beginning of the school year - and I've tried to take photos to share with families on my website. I've been having a lot of technical issues with uploading the photos to my Google Drive to add to my site, hence the delay. Check out some pictures from: -Outdoor play -Visiting the Yoga Room -Terry Fox Walk/Orange Shirt Day -Our first field trip to the Torbay History House -5 Senses Investigation in the Library -Making Applesauce -Therapy Dog Visit -Halloween Scavenger Hunt -Halloween This afternoon, our friends from the Torbay History House came to visit and teach us about some of the important chores children had to do in the past. We learned that the tedious job of milking the cow and making butter was often a responsibility assigned to the children - so they often would sing while they worked! We learned a chant and all sang it together as we took turns using the wooden churn. After a lot of hard work, our cream turned into butter and we practiced squeezing out all of the buttermilk and shaping it using old-fashioned butter molds. Afterwards, we were rewarded for our efforts with freshly made milkshakes. Overall, it was another very fun opportunity to learn about our roots and how things were done in years past. Students were so engaged in this session - we can't wait for our next partnership with the Torbay History House. |
