Just a reminder that no food treats for sharing are permitted at our school due to allergy concerns. Halloween costumes are permitted in the afternoon ONLY! There will be teachers around at lunchtime to help students with any costumes.

If you are planning on picking up your child for lunch, you will need to go to the office to sign them out.

​We will be having our second math test next Friday, November 4th. It will cover all lessons in Chapter 3, including various strategies used for addition and subtraction of decimal numbers. Most students aren't having too much difficulty with these concepts so far, but if you would like some extra practice sent home, that can be arranged. 

I find Math Aids to be a great resource for free printable Math worksheets. They have the option of also printing the answer key, which is helpful for quick correcting!

On Thursday, October 27th we will be going on our first of two swimming field trips to the Mews Centre. We will be walking from our school to the Mews Centre for 10am. We are still looking for some parent volunteers to help out in the change rooms. If you are able to come along please send me an e-mail!

Just an FYI: I have banned disposable plastic water bottles from our classroom. I would recommend sending in a reusable water bottle, or, if you must send a disposable bottle, it will be kept on the counter by the sink. Too many students are disrupting class by "bottle flipping," despite many, many warnings.

Please note that there is a district-wide PD day on Wednesday, October 19th. I completely forgot to put it on the October calendar, my bad! Please make sure to mark it down!

In other news, Math tests went home on Tuesday. The majority of students did really well!! Please sign or initial your child's test and return it ASAP. Thanks! If you feel like your child would benefit from extra practice on the concepts we covered in Chapter 2, please send me an e-mail. 

School Lunch Envelopes for November were sent home today, as well as a permission slip for our swimming outings. Please return these items ASAP! We will require a couple chaperones for swimming, so if you are available to help out, please let me know! 

Scholastic orders came in today, and students will receive their books tomorrow. A few of the books are on backorder, but you will receive a $5 coupon to use towards your next purchase. For anyone who ordered the new Diary of a Wimpy Kid novel, it will arrive within a week of its release in November.

Good morning everyone!
Just a reminder that tomorrow, Friday, October 7th is a Professional Development day for teachers, so there is no school for students. Monday is also the Thanksgiving Day holiday. The kiddos are very excited for their 4-day weekend!

I just received an e-mail from Scholastic that our order has been shipped and is en route to our school! Exciting times! Thank you to everyone who placed an order, it helps us get free books and other resources for our classroom!
